Self-reflection after completing a master's education.
Achieving my master's degree has been one of my dreams come true. Prior to completing my bachelor's degree, I never even considered continuing my education in the field of a master's program. The thought of the high costs and the need to start working immediately made me dismiss any notion of pursuing further studies after graduation. However, as time went on, my passion for business law deepened, and I realized that obtaining a master's degree would not only enhance my knowledge but also open doors to better opportunities. It was a decision that required careful consideration, but I ultimately chose to take the leap and embark on this educational journey.
The path to
completing my master's degree was not without challenges. Balancing coursework,
research, and personal commitments proved to be demanding at times. However, I
persevered with determination and a strong belief in the value of my education.
Through countless late nights of studying, engaging discussions with professors
and fellow students, and rigorous examinations, I gradually honed my skills and
expanded my understanding of the intricacies of business law. It was an
intellectually stimulating experience that pushed me to grow both academically
and personally.
Now, as I
reflect on my journey, I feel a profound sense of fulfillment and
accomplishment. Obtaining my master's degree in business law has equipped me
with a solid foundation and a deep expertise in my chosen field. I am excited
to embark on the next chapter of my life, where I can apply my knowledge and
skills to make a meaningful impact in the business world. With this blog, I aim
to create a space where I can freely express my thoughts, insights, and
experiences, while also connecting with like-minded individuals who share a
passion for entrepreneurship and the law.
At the
beginning of my first semester in college, I started applying for jobs, and
eventually, I landed a position as a field education consultant at an education
startup. I worked in this role for three months, and during that time, I felt
immense pressure to meet consultation and sales targets as I was working under
the sales and marketing department. This, coupled with the academic workload
and orientation process I had to undergo, left me feeling overwhelmed. I longed
to let go of one of these responsibilities because it proved to be incredibly
challenging to juggle a professional job while continuing my studies. With a
heavy heart, I decided to quit the job I had been doing for three months and
solely focus on my studies.
However, my
experience working had shown me that I had the potential to generate income
through my own efforts. As a result, I chose to pursue freelance work as a
tutor at another education startup, primarily focusing on educational
tutorials. This decision allowed me to have a more flexible schedule that
aligned with my academic commitments. I found solace in the fact that I could
still utilize my skills and knowledge in the education field while pursuing my
studies.
Working as a
freelance tutor not only provided me with financial stability but also allowed
me to enhance my teaching abilities and connect with students on a more
personal level. It was fulfilling to see the impact of my guidance and support
on their educational journey. Additionally, the freelance nature of the job
granted me the freedom to manage my time effectively, ensuring I could dedicate
ample hours to both my studies and tutoring responsibilities.
Although the
transition from a full-time job to freelancing presented its own set of
challenges, I embraced the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the
education sector while maintaining a balance between work and academia. It
taught me the importance of finding a harmonious blend between my professional
pursuits and educational aspirations.
I see many of
my close friends already starting to secure jobs and relocating to different
cities, which makes me eager to rejoin the workforce as a professional. I have
applied for jobs in other cities and have even had a few interviews, but I
declined them because I realized that I am not yet ready to move away and leave
my education unfinished.
During this
period, I made the decision to pursue my education seriously and graduate as
soon as possible. Throughout the process of writing my master's thesis, I was
truly determined to complete it within five months, with three rounds of
examinations including the proposal defense, the final results presentation,
and the comprehensive exam. After going through all these examination processes
and being declared as pass, the first thing I did was embrace myself for being
able to overcome my ego and successfully finish something I had started.
Looking back,
the decision to continue my studies immediately after completing my bachelor's
degree may have been disadvantageous for someone from a lower-middle-class
background who felt that working and earning money were necessities for
survival, considering there was no inheritance or family wealth to rely on.
However, one thing that changed my mindset was the profound advice from my
parents, emphasizing how much they wanted me to pursue the highest level of
education since they didn't have the financial means to pass down any
inheritance. They didn't have the same opportunities as I did to pursue higher
education during their youth.
Their advice
struck a chord with me, and I realized the importance of education as a means
to improve my life and contribute to my family's aspirations. It became a
driving force for me to continue my studies, despite the financial challenges
and sacrifices that came with it. I deeply appreciated the opportunity I had
been given, and I was determined to make the most of it.
Thus, I
embarked on my journey to complete my master's degree with a renewed sense of
purpose and gratitude. It wasn't an easy path, but the support and
encouragement from my parents, coupled with my own determination, kept me
motivated. Graduating with my master's degree became not just a personal
achievement, but also a fulfillment of my parents' dreams and hopes. It
symbolized the culmination of their sacrifices and the realization of their aspirations
for a better future.
In retrospect,
I am grateful for the advice and guidance from my parents, as their wisdom
helped me see beyond the immediate challenges and inspired me to pursue
education as a transformative opportunity. Their belief in me gave me the
strength to persevere, and it was a reminder of the value of education in
breaking the cycle of limited opportunities.
In the end, I
learned about responsibility and the importance of appreciating the sacrifices
my parents have made.
